Numbers and photos tell part of the story. Being there tells the rest.
During a recent visit to our campuses in Liberia, we were reminded of all the things that don't make it into a newsletter - the sound of a classroom full of students working through a lesson, the way a teacher pauses to make sure every single student is following along before moving on, the way the girls greet you when you arrive.
Enrollment is up. The new first-floor classrooms are in use, and the difference in energy on campus is noticeable. There's room to move. There's space to think. You can feel the difference between a school that's overcrowded and one that has enough room to breathe.
The challenges are real too. Construction on the second floor is ongoing and the funding needed to finish it is still being raised. The rainy season created some delays. Keeping experienced teachers in place is an ongoing priority.
But what we keep coming back to is this: the students are here. They're showing up. They're learning.
One of our staff members said something that has stayed with us: "These girls would not be in school if this school did not exist." That's not an exaggeration - it's the straightforward truth for many of our families.
The work is working. And the people who make it possible - including you - should know that.
