"You are the salt of the earth...You are the light of the world."
-- Matthew 5:13-14
Dear Prayer Partners and Supporters,
As I write this letter, my heart is full of gratitude for each and every one of you who has stood with me and this ministry through the highs and lows of this past year. The question that continues to stir in my spirit is: Am I truly salt and light to my community -- and to my next-door neighbor? That remains both my prayer and my challenge as we press forward together into 2026.
This ministry did not slow down in the face of debilitating grief, and that is entirely because of God's faithfulness through people like you. Thank you for believing in what He started through Tony and me many years ago. The work goes on -- it must go on.
High School Building -- First Floor Complete
In November, I traveled to Liberia to oversee the completion of four classrooms on the first floor of our PHI-2 High School building. While there, I had the privilege of hosting five members of the Southeast Christian Church mission team, who visited Petals of Hope to see and prayerfully assess the ministry firsthand. Although their visit was brief, they were able to tour both ministry sites and school campuses and witness the impact God is making possible.
We were filled with joy and gratitude seeing how far the building has come in just one year since the foundation was laid. The first-floor structure is now complete -- a major milestone! We are still working towards pouring the upper concrete slab for the second floor, which will allow continued expansion.
In mid-April 2026, we began using these first four classrooms! Our upper-class students (7th-10th grade) were previously meeting in an extremely overcrowded space. These new rooms provide a safer, more focused learning environment where they will thrive.
School Bus -- A Dream Come True
In response to a previous prayer request, we are thrilled to share that God provided. Our 77-seater yellow school bus for our coed school -- which now serves 166 students -- has safely arrived in Liberia. The bus took a long journey from Minnesota to Maryland, and then shipped overseas to Liberia.
Because of this reliable transportation, enrollment has increased significantly this school year. Families now have greater access to education for their children, and daily attendance has improved. Watching our students' joyful faces as they step on and off the bus each day is a powerful reminder of why we continue pressing forward. What once felt like a distant dream is now a daily blessing.
Uniforms -- A Special Thank You
We are deeply grateful to Life Bridge for generously providing multiple shipments of school uniforms for our students. This gift has been a tremendous blessing to our families. Our parents are incredibly thankful, and our students wear their uniforms with confidence and pride.
Government Electricity -- A Major Step Forward
In addition to the solar panel systems already installed on both of our school campuses, we are grateful to now have access to government-run electricity at our schools. This is a significant and long-awaited development. With both solar and government electricity in place, we are better equipped than ever to provide a stable, consistent learning environment for our students.
A New Chapter for Petals of Hope
Petals of Hope International is stepping into a new season as an independent ministry. Moving forward, donations may be made directly through our website or mailed to our P.O. Box. All gifts are securely processed and tax-deductible.
A special word of appreciation to Carl Gordon through "2414," who has faithfully walked alongside us during this five-year transition. We are deeply grateful for his guidance and partnership.
