In mid-April 2026, Petals of Hope reached a milestone years in the making: students walked into the brand-new first-floor classrooms of PHI-2 High School for the very first time.
For the upper-class students -- 7th through 10th grade -- this moment was transformational. They had been sharing an extremely overcrowded space, making focused learning difficult for teachers and students alike. These four new classrooms change everything.
From Foundation to Functional
Construction on the PHI-2 building began in earnest in late 2024. In just over a year, the first floor went from a freshly poured foundation to four fully completed classrooms. Elizabeth traveled to Liberia in November 2025 to oversee the final stages -- accompanied by a mission team from Southeast Christian Church, who toured both campuses and witnessed the impact firsthand.
The first-floor structure is now complete. The team is working toward pouring the upper concrete slab for the second floor, which will allow the school to continue expanding as enrollment grows.
What Comes Next
Completing the second floor remains the next major milestone. Funding is still needed for the upper slab, additional classrooms, furnishings, and teacher support. Every dollar given to the Build the Future campaign moves this project forward -- directly impacting the students who will one day learn, grow, and graduate in this building.
